Family eye care
You need to ensure that your family receives the best eyecare possible. There is more to healthy eyes than clear vision. Your vision changes throughout your life.
Kid's eye care
At about the age of 3 years you should take your child to your Visique Optometrist for their first full eye examination. The optometrist will test for excessive or unequal amounts of nearsightedness, far sightedness, or astigmatism, eye movement ability and assess general eye health.
Unless the need arises, or at the advice of your Visique Optometrist, your child's next eye examination should be prior to starting school.
Early detection of vision problems is particularly important for primary and intermediate school children learning to read and write, as the development of the vision system is essentially complete by the age of nine.
A child who cannot see is at a learning disadvantage.

Later in life
Diminishing eyesight becomes more common as people grow older. It may become more difficult to read small print, see the television clearly, or recognise faces across the street. Although eyes may alter over the course of time, these changes can usually be accommodated with either spectacles or contact lenses.
As we age, less light reaches the retina. To compensate, more illumination is required for detailed work. A higher wattage light bulb close to the material you are working with will often vastly improve the quality of reading.
Regular eye examinations are just as important as regular medical examinations to older people. Early detection of any eye health conditions means prompt treatment can be administered and good vision preserved.
Being aware of the warning signs of eye problems, eye disease and visual disorders is critical to getting them treated promptly and professionally.
