Ortho K
What is Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)?
Also known as Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) or corneal
reshaping, orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is a safe, reversible
alternative to refractive surgery. This non-surgical procedure can
help reduce your daily dependence on wearing glasses to achieve
clear vision.
The treatment uses special rigid contact lenses which are worn
while you sleep to re-shape the curvature of the eye. When you wake
you remove the contact lenses and are able to experience
comfortable, clear vision throughout the day without the need for
glasses or contact lenses. Your Visique optometrist will be able to
advise if Ortho-K is suitable for you.
What Vision Treatments does Ortho-K
treat?
Ortho-K is commonly used to treat myopia (short-sightedness).
It can also be used to treat hyperopia
(long-sightedness), astigmatism (unequal focus) or presbyopia (vision
after forty). Talk to your orthokeratology specialist to see if
you are a candidate for this treatment.
