Why choose contact lenses?
Contact Lenses can allow more freedom for work and many leisure
activities including sports. People who enjoy the cosmetic
appearance of contact lenses, often choose a tinted lens to enhance
or change their eye colour. While there are many reasons why
contact lenses may be more convenient at times, many contact lens
wearers like to adjust their use depending on their activity for
the day.
If you are thinking about contact lenses or would like to know
more, phone or visit your local Visique Optometrist who will answer
your questions and explain the various options available to
you.
Can contact lenses work for me?
To become a successful contact lens wearer you will need to have
an eye examination, during which your eyes and vision will be
assessed and the most suitable type of lens design will be
determined. What you can expect from your contact lenses, and all
the costs, are discussed at this time.
Are contact lenses easy to wear?
Depending on your eye sensitivity your eyes could adjust to
wearing contact lenses within somewhere between a day to two weeks.
It is very important to keep to the routine outlined by your
Visique Optometrist and contact them if you have any concerns.
Are contact lenses uncomfortable?
Contact lenses should not be uncomfortable to wear, and if you
are experiencing any discomfort you must seek immediate advice from
your Visique Optometrist.
What happens if I put contact lenses in my eyes
incorrectly?
This is unlikely to harm your eyes, but you may feel a little
discomfort. You will be shown how to tell if your
contact lenses are the correct way round before you insert
them, this is very simple and should not cause any concern.
What about cleaning contact lenses?
During your teaching appointment, you will be taught how to
handle your contact lenses, and how to clean them. Cleaning and
disinfecting your contact lenses is a daily procedure with most
contact lenses, and it is important to ensure you maintain the
routine you are shown. The steps are simple to follow, but are very
important for your comfort and the long term success of wearing
contact lenses.
Can I wear colour contact lenses to change the colour of
my eyes even if i don't need glasses?
Coloured contact lenses are available in many different options,
and they can be worn for cosmetic purposes only, however you will
need to have an eye examination to asses whether wearing lenses and
what type of coloured contact lens will be suited to your eyes.
